Jam in the Atrium with Steve Korn & Matt Williams

Join us in the Atrium for our May Jam, a lively and welcoming afternoon of music and community on Saturday, May 2 from 1–3pm. Led by bassist Bruce Phares, this free, all-ages gathering invites audiences to relax, connect, and enjoy the spontaneity of live jazz.

This month features special guest artists Steve Korn on drums and Matt Williams on piano—two dynamic forces in the Seattle jazz scene. A “musician’s drummer,” Korn is known for his versatility, musical sensitivity, and collaborations with some of the region’s top artists, as well as performances across the U.S., Europe, and Russia. His work as a bandleader and recording artist has earned critical acclaim, including a Golden Ear Award for Northwest Emerging Artist of the Year.

Pianist Matt Williams has been praised for his “ear-catching” improvisation and is a driving creative voice in contemporary jazz. A first-call performer throughout Seattle and beyond, he leads his own projects, hosts the city’s longest-running late-night jam session, and brings a rich, exploratory approach shaped by musical roots in Phoenix, Kansas City, and the Northwest.

Whether you’re a longtime jazz lover or just looking for a joyful way to spend your afternoon, the May Jam is a perfect chance to experience great music in a relaxed, community-centered setting.
